- Civitas app uses blockchain technology to track Coronavirus cases
Emerge, which is a blockchain startup based in Toronto, has launched the Civitas app which uses blockchain technology to track Coronavirus cases, in addition to helping governments take preventative measures.
Essentially, the app helps government authorities to determine when citizens can leave their homes, reducing store wait times and preventing the congestion of people in tight places. In other words, different groups of citizens have different times they are allowed to go outside, so that not everyone goes outside at once.
Also, individuals and doctors can track Coronavirus symptoms and test results in the app. The reason blockchain technology is important for this is that it provides privacy, and only the doctor and the individual can access the data.
Thus, the immutability, cryptographic security, and instant nature of blockchain technology is helping governments to manage and mitigate the Coronavirus pandemic, by providing effective software for controlling the flow of citizens and to track the number of cases in each area of the country in real-time.
