- Real Items company is reaching out to manufacturers of KN95 masks in China to ensure authenticity
Blockchain-based consumer protection service provider Real Items is using blockchain to authenticate and reduce counterfeits of KN95 masks.
Amid the shortage of N95 masks in the United States of America, the Food and Drug Administration approved the use of KN95 masks. Unlike N95 masks, KN95 masks are regulated by the Chinese government. Although there are many similarities between the two kinds of masks, there has been a growing concern regarding how authentic the KN95 masks are.
David Nebard, CEO of Real items Company said that he reached out to the manufacturers of KN95 masks in China post the announcement of its usage in America. He explained to them how blockchain can be used to reduce counterfeits and ensure authenticity. He told Cointelegraph:
“I am aware that there are a number of fraudulent KN95 masks being produced today. After hearing these masks would be used in America, I was staying up 24-hours a day to get hold of a factory in China that would use real item’s technology to guarantee authenticity for their KN95 masks.”
Real Items is starting a Shopify plugin to ensure masks being sold online shoppers are authentic. This technology will be used to track and locate the source of their manufacturing.
