Russian State Nuclear Corporation Rosatom has announced plans to develop new and advanced technologies including blockchain to make their systems more efficient. The move comes after the Russian government unveiled a policy of blockchain promotion and Rosatom is following suit. Rosatam is an umbrella organization of more than 360 enterprises including scientific research centers, ice-breaking fleets and even nuclear weapons themselves. It is also one of the world’s leaders in the nuclear energy industry.

According to Evgeniy Abakumov, head of Rosatom’s IT department, the system will focus on three key new technologies including blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).

He said, “We are committed to integrating 4.0 technologies on a wider scale. IoT, AI, blockchain and others are to increase the efficiency of manufacturing process.”

The Russian government is also promoting crypto-related technologies in other areas. Recently, The Russian State Pension Fund, the largest social service, revealed plans to implement blockchain and smart contracts in its labor relations. The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs including Forbes billionaires also took part in creating a new cryptocurrency-related bill in the country that will allow legal crypto businesses to thrive in the country.

While regulatory efforts in Russia have so far been less than effective, it is expected that the growing blockchain economy and the country’s dependence on it will force legislators to pass pro-crypto laws.
