September 25th 2024 — Alby announces the release of Alby Go, a mobile application designed for the easiest bitcoin payments on the go.
Available for iOS and Android, this open-source app enables users to send and receive bitcoin instantly over the Lightning Network on their mobile devices, directly from their own nodes.
Alby mobile is here. Users can connect Alby Hub, Umbrel, Start9, LifPay, CoinOS or other Lightning nodes and wallets to Alby Go, enabling self-custodial payments directly from their mobile devices.
The app provides the most straightforward wallet interface to NWC-enabled lightning wallets, streamlined to the essentials: send, receive and… go —making bitcoin transactions quick and comfortable.
While maintaining a focus on ease of use, Alby Go also offers helpful features:
- Contact List: Store Lightning Addresses of frequent contacts for quick and convenient transactions.
- Support for Multiple Wallets: Alby Go supports multiple NWC-enabled bitcoin Lightning wallets and nodes.
- Currency Conversion
- Dark/light Theme Settings
Alby Go is currently on its version 1.5 and users are welcome to suggest and help the team with the features that should be implemented in future releases. The app’s code is open-source, ready for reviews and contributions, ensuring transparency and future development.
