FansUnite, a Canadian based startup, is to collaborate with English Premiership team and winners of the 2015/16 premiership in a series of events in this season’s round of matches.

Leicester City, known as “the Foxes” and based at the King Power Stadium in Leicester, will run a series of contests, player meet-and-greets, surprise giveaways and other activities at their home matches through the year. FansUnite is also currently working on a betting protocol, which is to be launched by the end of this year. Its CEO Darius Eghdami commented:

“Leicester City FC is one of the premier brands in all of football, being one of just six clubs to hoist the Premier League Trophy since its inception in 1992. They are at the forefront of incorporating new technology to help improve player performance and fan engagement.”

The team’s manager Jonathan Gregory was pleased to hook up with the cryptocurrency industry, commenting:

“FansUnite is an innovative brand looking to bring transparency and collaboration to their industry and we are delighted to be part of this journey.”

This is the second foray of industry representation into the Premier League after newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers linked with Crypto exchange CoinDeal, who will have their logo displayed on players strips this season.

In more football news, it was revealed today that Japanese star Honda, who appeared in some of this year’s world cup games in Russia, has been appointed as a sporting ambassador for Japanese crypto exchange Bitpoint, and has already appeared in a photo shoot in Hollywood promoting the company.

Honda is following in Argentinian World footballing great Lionel Messi’s footsteps, who plays a similar role promoting a new cryptophone for Sirin Labs, the company marketing a new smartphone called Finney. Spanish football club Espanyol and ex-greats Roberto Carlos and Ronaldinho, all have deals with decentralized sports investment platform, SportyCo.
