BTCHEL, the largest Bitcoin conference in the Nordics, returns to Kaapelitehdas in Helsinki on 25–26 September 2026 with a world class speaker lineup. Headliners include Adam Back, the cryptographer cited in the Bitcoin whitepaper, and Martti Malmi, the Finnish developer who was one of Satoshi Nakamoto’s earliest collaborators.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Francis Pouliot – founder and CEO of Bull Bitcoin, a self-custodial Bitcoin exchange, known for his uncompromising stance on self-custody, privacy, and Bitcoin-only financial infrastructure.

  • Martti Malmi – the Finnish software developer who worked directly with Satoshi Nakamoto during Bitcoin’s earliest years

  • Þórhildur Sunna Ævarsdóttir – Former Member of Parliament, Iceland. Global Director of Julian Assange’s Courage Foundation.

  • Lyudmyla Kozlovska – President of the Open Dialogue Foundation, a human rights organization. Currently fighting against EU’s Chat Control.

  • Adam Back, Giacomo Zucco, Knut Svanholm, Jimmy Song, Stephan Kinsella, Giovanni Santostasi, Siim Land, Susie Violet Ward and Rick Messitt, alongside dozens of other international names.

The program spans three stages. The Main stage tackles the questions shaping Bitcoin’s role in Europe: EU regulation, the competition between miners and AI for energy, financial censorship, and human rights.

The Expo stage offers practical sessions on topics such as taxation and self-custody, plus a full Finnish-language program block covering investing and Bitcoin in Finnish politics. The OG stage, to be revealed in August, is dedicated to developers and deep technical discussion.

BTCHEL has announced the preliminary stage program and the side event schedule for the event week taking place at Kaapelitehdas in September.

“Bitcoin is no longer a fringe phenomenon – it is part of European economic and energy policy. BTCHEL brings together the people who have built Bitcoin since its very first days, and those shaping its future in Europe,”
