Accepting Bitcoin payments just got a lot more familiar. Powered by Cashu, Numo brings an Apple Pay-like tap-to-pay experience to Bitcoin merchants, no extra hardware required.

The free and open-source Android point-of-sale app is now available for download delivering a familiar checkout experience similar to Apple Pay or Google Pay, all without requiring any additional hardware.

The app is built on Cashu, the open-source ecash protocol for Bitcoin. When a customer pays, their Cashu wallet reads an NFC tag emulated by the merchant's Android phone and writes back a payment token.

The entire interaction takes a few seconds. Numo also supports Lightning Network invoices, making it compatible with any Bitcoin Lightning wallet.

Numo is designed with merchants in mind. Payments arrive as Cashu ecash held on a mint, and merchants can configure an automatic withdrawal threshold: once their balance reaches a set amount, Numo sweeps the funds to their own Lightning address without any manual intervention.

The app includes built-in inventory management, payment history, offline payment support, and tip functionality. A BTCPay Server integration is currently in development.

Numo charges zero platform fees, which means merchants keep everything they earn.
"Bitcoin payments should be as easy as tapping your phone. Numo makes that a reality today, on any NFC-enabled Android device."

Numo is available now as a direct APK download at numopay.org. A Google Play Store release is forthcoming. The project is fully open source under the MIT license and is developed with support from OpenCash.
