TOYOSA now accepts bitcoin alongside bolivianos, U.S. dollars and USDT for Toyota vehicle purchases in Bolivia.

The Bitcoin initiative was unveiled at Expocruz 2026 as part of TOYOSA’s broader focus on innovation and customer payment options.
TOYOSA Expands Digital Payment Options
TOYOSA has introduced bitcoin as a new payment option for customers buying Toyota vehicles in Bolivia, marking a new step in the company’s digital payment strategy.
TOYOSA S.A. is the exclusive official distributor of Toyota vehicles, spare parts, and associated automotive services in Bolivia.
The announcement was made at TOYOSA’s stand during Expocruz 2026 on September 18. Under the slogan “Your Bitcoin. Your Toyota. Trust Evolves,” the company presented bitcoin alongside its existing payment options, which include bolivianos, U.S. dollars and USDT.
The move follows TOYOSA’s introduction of USDT payments in 2025. The company said the addition of bitcoin is part of its effort to offer customers more ways to pay for vehicles as digital assets become increasingly integrated into everyday financial transactions.
Bitcoin can be transferred electronically without physical banknotes, permission, or intermediaries, enabling transactions in a decentralized manner. The company described the initiative as a practical bridge between digital technology and the traditional process of buying a car.
During the presentation, TOYOSA showed a video explaining the new payment method. It ended with the message: “Your Bitcoin. Your Toyota. Trust Evolves.” The company said the initiative continues its broader effort to develop digital solutions for its customers.

The Bitcoin payment system was developed with support from two specialized partners: Towerbank and BitGo Bank & Trust.
Towerbank provided the transaction-processing platform, along with experience and guidance in the digital asset sector. BitGo Bank & Trust provided institutional-grade digital asset wallet infrastructure to support the payment workflow.
BitGo Bank & Trust is an OCC-regulated digital asset trust bank and a subsidiary of BitGo Holdings. The company’s infrastructure is designed to support the custody and management of digital assets for institutional and business users.
The partnership gives TOYOSA access to specialized technology as it adds bitcoin to its vehicle payment system.
Bitcoin was one of three major themes presented by TOYOSA at Expocruz 2026.
The first was Toyota 10, a program offering up to 10 years or 200,000 kilometers of warranty coverage, with the warranty described as transferable.
The initiative is intended to strengthen the long-term support provided to Toyota customers in Bolivia.
The second was Multipathway, Toyota’s strategy of offering different vehicle technologies, including gasoline, hybrid and electric models. Among the vehicles highlighted during the presentation was the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid.
The third pillar was innovation in payments, with bitcoin becoming the central announcement.
Executives, government representatives, business leaders and representatives of Toyota, Towerbank and BitGo attended the presentation. Edwin R. Saavedra, Director of Artificial Intelligence for the TOYOSA Group, connected the Bitcoin announcement with Bolivia’s history of money.
“From the silver of Potosí to Bitcoin: Bolivia is once again at the forefront of the history of money,” Saavedra said.

He also pointed to TOYOSA’s earlier introduction of USDT payments and described bitcoin as another step in connecting technology with changing customer needs.
The company’s Bitcoin initiative places digital assets alongside more traditional payment methods rather than replacing them. Customers can therefore choose between bitcoin, bolivianos, U.S. dollars and USDT when purchasing Toyota vehicles through TOYOSA.
