Students and future Bitcoin enthusiasts gathered at the School of Economics and Business in University of Ljubljana on April 23, 2024, for a vibrant event organized by Bitcoin Slovenia.
The event served as a platform for discussions on Bitcoin, its role in the financial world, mining, and various other related aspects. With over 250 attendees, the event showcased a strong interest in Bitcoin and its potential impact on the global economy. Participants engaged in lively discussions, sharing insights and knowledge about the digital currency.

The event was opened by Toni Čepon, the president of Bitcoin Slovenia, who expressed:
“We’re thrilled with the turnout and the enthusiasm we’ve seen from the community. Events like these play a crucial role in educating the public about bitcoin and its potential to revolutionize finance.
The event continued with an introduction to Bitcoin through the Proof-of-Work mechanism, hosted by Klemen K. Verstovšek. Later, there was a panel featuring Tanja Bivic Plankar, Andrej P. Skraba, and Peter Opara, who discussed an overview of Bitcoin’s fundamentals, exploring its decentralized nature, security features, and the underlying technology, blockchain.
The experts delved into the significance of bitcoin in reshaping traditional financial systems and its potential as a store of value. Towards the end, Marko Tarman introduced us to mining, explaining why Proof of Work is crucial and why the impact on the environment is not as bad as mainstream media often portrays.
One of the focal points of the event was bitcoin mining, where attendees learned about the process of generating new bitcoin and securing the network through computational power. The discussion addressed the environmental concerns associated with mining and explored innovative solutions for sustainable mining practices.
