It has been claimed that the Bitcoin Challenge has been solved in eight days and the puzzle solver has successfully walked away with BTC 310 worth some USD 2 million.
An anonymous Redditor was reported to have launched the challenge on 2 October, where challengers were required to solve a cryptic image to release the Bitcoin prize secured by a private key.
According to reports, it appears that the wallet was emptied on 10 October and the private funds have been secured by a challenger. Pip, who created the challenge, clearly with more Bitcoin than he could handle, put out a call to know who had scooped the BTC with the message “Whoever won the first prize, please get in touch with me”.
There were also three connected addresses containing much smaller amounts of BTC 0.31, BTC 0.2 and BTC 0.1 respectively. The smaller two have been emptied while the largest of the three is still awaiting a solution.
Of course, the big question the crypto community is asking is, “Why give away BTC 300?”. The answer to that 2 million-dollar question seems to be that “Pip” had been highly successful mining Bitcoin when the price was low, “changing my life for good” as the holder claimed, then adding to the funds again later, saying:
“On top of that, Bitcoin Airdrops were created. I thought it would be nice to give those away to someone else in the universe, as I don’t need them. Just for fun. (In the end, I got them for free too ).”
For those now thinking a Bitcoin airdrop might be the answer to penury and needs to investigate how they work, these occur when a blockchain project distributes free tokens or coins to the crypto community. Recipients typically need little more than a wallet to receive their share of the distribution.
