Netflix Star To Race In Bitcoin Porsche

The British racing team BitcoinRacing is joining the Porsche Carrera Cup together with Richardson Racing Team, and new Scottish-Salvadoran driver Sebastian Melrose the team announced.

The Bitcoin Porsche, a 911 GT3 with 510hp and 4.0-litre, six-cylinder engine, features a El Salvador flag on its roof.

The Porsche Carrera Cup is one of the UK’s largest championships, consisting of eight race weekends across the country, and is broadcast live on ITV.

Melrose who is a fresh Netflix star, expressed his excitement and motivation about joining the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. He was inspired to pursue motorsports by his godfather Dario Franchitti, a four-time winner of the IndyCar Series and three-time victor in the Indianapolis 500.

The 25-year-old Melrose has already achieved success in his own right, producing podium finishes in the Formula Ford 1600 and the 2019 GT racing series, as well as impressive results in the 2021 Ginetta GT4 Supercup.

Besides racing, Melrose received national fame in 2022, when he took part in the Netflix TV series “Too Hot to Handle,” finishing as runner-up.

Bitcoin, the new digital money, is slowly becoming mainstream and superstars such as CJ Wilson and others promote the cause. With BitcoinRacing a family race team has made Bitcoin adoption their business purpose.

BitcoinRacing, created by team principal Andrew Mackenzie and deputy principal Charlie Mackenzie aims to use racing to promote bitcoin to a wider audience. The team has close links to El Salvador, a country that officially endorses the team and flies its flag on the roof of its cars in all championships.
