Now, before you roll your eyes and think I’ve joined the ranks of the overly dramatic, let me assure you, my story is as true as the world’s best digital asset is volatile. I want to tell you how the transformative power of Bitcoin changed my life. Picture it: 2020, a year that felt like a bad movie, complete with a global pandemic and governments seemingly competing for the “Most Restrictive Measures” award.
After grinding away seven days a week for 35 long years, my intuition, possibly honed from too many espresso shots, screamed, “Shut it down!” And just like that, I decided to close my retail empire, in what could only be described as a Hollywood-style moment of clarity. This wasn’t just a minor career pivot; it was a “close up shop, life’s taking a sharp left turn” kind of deal. In a swift, almost spy-like impromptu meeting with my team, I announced the end of our retail saga.
A Life-Altering Transition
This presented a complete and total paradigm shift for me as I was left with a huge void in my life. Suddenly, I had more free time than a teenager during summer vacation. Except instead of kicking it on the beach I was enjoying being locked in my home with the emotional cocktail of confusion, anxiety, and a touch of depression.
Think of it as being given a free pass to an amusement park, only to find out the rides are a bit too real and the cotton candy’s been spiked with existential dread. In addition, having a progressive auto immune disease (MS) adds levels of complexity that cannot be thoroughly explained, but let’s just say, it makes normal things in life much more difficult.
Discovering Transformative Power of Bitcoin
In search of something to rejuvenate my spirits during a slump, I stumbled upon Bitcoin. Diving deep into its workings, each session of research and understanding not only filled the void but also fortified my conviction in this groundbreaking asset.
What began as cautious curiosity, tipping my toe in the investment waters, quickly evolved into full-fledged commitment. Influenced by Michael Saylor‘s strategic move in August 2020, I realized if someone of his intellect saw potential here, there was no reason to hold back. Thus, I went all in, embracing Bitcoin as not just a store of value, but also as a beacon of hope and a source of newfound strength.

That summer, we founded MassAdoption. Bitcoin’s ability to align incentives in a far superior way than fiat currencies was a driving force behind this endeavor.
