Since you clicked on this article, I will assume that you plan on mining at your home. There are a few things to consider with this approach.
Bitcoin ASICs are very loud. It’s best to have a room that will be dedicated to mining, like a garage or basement. If you live in an apartment, you’re better off using a hosting service.
While most high-powered ASICs need industrial electricity, you can profitably run some of the older models off of residential electricity. The Bitmain S9, for example, runs perfectly fine off of the standard 110V plug in your house.

Miners connect to the internet with an ethernet cable. You’ll have to find a way to get a connection to your miner. There are a few solutions to this problem. Wifi powerlines plug into an outlet in your wall and can transfer data through the copper electricity cables in your house.
Now that you have the right PSU, and have thought about where your internet will come from, it’s time to pick your miner.
For home mining, I personally love the Bitmain S9.
The S9 still makes up about 25% of Bitcoin’s total hash rate, which is remarkable considering they came on the market in 2016.
The S9 is a great option because they are cheap, and still relatively powerful. Depending on your electricity costs, you can still make money with them, although it won’t be substantial. However, if you live in a cold climate, you can heat your garage or basement for free with these machines, as they throw off about 5,000 BTU per hour.
