Echos runs entirely on a user’s device using lightweight AI models, keeping audio and notes private while delivering accurate, multilingual transcription without ever connecting to a server. The key features at launch include one-tap recording, offline transcription, and the ability to organize notes into sessions. Echos encrypts all notes and supports over 65 languages.

Tobias has been a guiding force in the transition from experimental machine learning to mainstream LLM adoption, and now leads JAN3’s mission to make that power accessible to the world.

Echos is currently optimized for short to mid-length note-taking sessions. We recommend sessions of less than 30 minutes for speed of processing, but there is no limit on the duration of each session. Upcoming updates are planned for audio file uploads, transcribing multi-subject dialogue, search, and smarter organization, all while maintaining an offline-first approach.
