Organizers of the annual Bitcoin FilmFest have announced an innovative video contest to spotlight the capabilities of the Lightning Network. Titled “The Lightning Luminary Video Contest,” it calls on Bitcoiners to create and submit 1-minute videos showcasing Lightning in creative ways. With $1,500 in total prize money up for grabs, the contest aims to uncover unique perspectives and use cases around the Bitcoin scaling solution.
The Lightning Luminary Video Contest: Prizes
Prizes will be awarded across three categories:
- Storyteller’s Award ($700) – For videos that leverage strong storytelling, cinematography, and artistic expression to document real-world or fictional Lightning usage examples.
- Innovation Award ($500) – Shining a light on groundbreaking, peculiar, or inspiring implementations of Lightning, with top prize going to the most novel use case demonstrated.
- Community Award ($300) – Celebrating videos that generate the highest engagement through likes, comments, and community activation around the Lightning Network‘s potential.
All participants who enter valid submissions will also receive a 50% discount on tickets to Bitcoin FilmFest’s upcoming flagship event in Warsaw – dubbed the Bitcoin FilmFest 2024: European Halving Party in reference to Bitcoin’s next block reward halving.
Submissions must adhere to the 1-minute maximum length requirement and incorporate the official #BFF24 event banner (pictured). The deadline to enter is April 22nd, on Pizza Day.
A Fierce Competition
Bitcoin Film Fest is collaborating with super app Fedi who provides a solution that blends human communities with technology and leading industry publication BitcoinNews on organizing and promoting the video contest.
The competition merges Bitcoin creativity and education. By incentivizing community members to explore Lightning’s capabilities through a video medium, the contest could unearth demonstrations that increase awareness and adoption.
The Lightning Luminary contest offers a fun yet impactful way to share knowledge through community-driven videos and storytelling. This video contest provides a platform to showcase implementations of scaling solutions’ potential for fast, low-cost Bitcoin transactions, or… deliberate on their future implementation. Bitcoin FilmFest – a hub for all Bitcoin and cinema – encourages a creative approach.
“A use-case coming from the future? Most unusual thing you paid for? How Lightning saved your day? Why a vendor use Lightning not fiat?” – there is no spoon say the organizers.
