Augsburg, January 29th, 2024 – In light of the global climate and local energy crises, the demand for future-proof energy solutions has never been higher. How do you solve the issues which arise when transitioning to greener energy and simultaneously ensure a resilient and secure grid?
The European Bitcoin Energy Association believes that bitcoin mining can play a vital role in the European energy transition. Bitcoin data-centers are provenly well-suited to act as consumers of both first and last resort as well as a valuable tool for methane mitigation.
Mark Morton, Managing Director of Irish BTC mining company, Scilling Digital Mining, and Chairman of EBEA, states:
“We know that bitcoin mining can be climate positive and serve as a beautiful way to load-manage energy grids. Despite this, we see an oftentimes hostile political and media environment that is frequently not based on facts. We as an industry must also acknowledge that we have not done our part by producing good quality data. This needs to change and this is exactly what EBEA is aiming to do.”
