07/07/2024, REDDING, CA. — Freedom Riders, a Salvadoran-American initiative, invites international motorcyclists to explore El Salvador by bike November 17th-24th, 2024.
The tour starts at the beach in El Zonte, roaming through the bustling capital San Salvador and then meandering through the country’s most beautiful regions, mountain passages, volcano summits, lakes and towns.
The Freedom Tour is organized by Alan Jackson, a corporate pilot and motorcycle enthusiast who, after repeated visits to El Salvador, wants to share the positive experiences from his adventures with others.
As a passionate bike rider and Bitcoin enthusiast, he seeks to raise awareness among international motorcyclists to promote El Salvador as a travel destination. Supporting local businesses and merchants, the group will use bitcoin for payments along the way.
According to Jackson, the bad stigma from past times of civil war and gang violence is fading as El Salvador has become the safest country in the region.
While human rights organizations have critiqued the mass imprisonment of gang associates, the economy is booming. As of May 2024, tourism in El Salvador has increased by 157% compared to the same period in 2019.
Jackson has become especially passionate about showcasing El Salvador since the country has adopted bitcoin and is being revitalized through the policies of its re-elected President Nayib Bukele.
On March 12, 2024, the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador amended the Income Tax Law to providing tax advantages attracting foreign capital investments and businesses.
A highly anticipated stop will be the municipality of Berlín, a small town in the Tecapa-Chinameca-Alegrìa mountain zone, located in the central north of Usulután.
The town was founded in 1885 by the residents of the previous “Gramalón” or “Agua Caliente” and by Serafin Brennen, a German who had established the municipality after surviving a shipwreck off the Salvadoran coast.
In 2023 Berlín saw the second circular Bitcoin community growing in El Salvador after the Bitcoin Beach developed into a hotspot for Bitcoin tourism in 2021. Over 120 merchants now accept bitcoin in Berlín according to BTCmap.
Bikers interested in joining the tour can ride with their own bikes or get bikes provided on the spot. To contact the Freedom Tour organizers visit the website at PursuingFreedom.net.
