Zurich, 10th December — In an economic climate where fintech funding has contracted sharply, Relai has defied the odds by securing a $12 million Series A round, reinforcing its mission to bring Bitcoin to the masses across Europe.
The round is led by Ego Death Capital, which committed $4 million. Additional investors include Plan B Bitcoin Fund, Timechain, and Solit Group. In total, the series A will have raised $12 million.
The Swiss-based Bitcoin platform has established itself as a leader in offering self-custodial Bitcoin investments, catering to a diverse clientele, but mostly millennials and Bitcoin newcomers.
This recent capital injection will boost the company’s geographical expansion, extending its Bitcoin-focused services to additional European markets beyond Switzerland.
With the goal of obtaining the MiCA license in early 2025, Relai is poised to become one of the first Bitcoin-focused platforms fully compliant with Europe’s new regulatory standards.
This license will enable Relai to aggressively expand its award-winning app to over 400 million users across key European markets. Julian Liniger, Co-Founder and CEO of Relai said:
“We are thrilled to have gained the trust of the top investors in the global bitcoin industry. Despite the tough market conditions, our financing round was heavily oversubscribed. This fresh capital will massively accelerate our growth and support our mission to educate and onboard millions of Europeans to Bitcoin.”
“Julian and Adem have built an incredible team and platform by focusing relentlessly on long term value to users—helping them to both understand Bitcoin, and to buy it safely and securely,” said Jeff Booth, Founding Partner at ego death capital.
Booth added: “They are already a leader in Europe and are well positioned to become a household name. We have seen amazing growth since our first investment in the company and are more optimistic than ever about supporting Relai on the next leg of their journey!”
Relai has already achieved over 300% year-on-year growth in user adoption, demonstrating the growing demand for Bitcoin investments in Europe.
The raised funds will allow Relai to accelerate its product development and marketing efforts, and it will help solidify its position as the premier Bitcoin-only platform for individuals and businesses alike.
